Tinnitus and stress are linked together, and when stress is bad, tinnitus is worse.  Your body becomes much more sensitive when it is stressed, and that sensitivity causes the tinnitus to sound even louder.  Thus, you have to manage the stress so you can manage the tinnitus.

One of the best ways to manage stress is through exercise.  This is hard for tinnitus sufferers to understand, as exercise might make their symptoms worse.  Remember, though, it is temporary.  While you are exercising, your blood is pumping. That pumping blood can cause your symptoms to be worse for a short period of time.  After the exercise is done, though, your tinnitus will be back under control.

You have to understand that even though you will experience some discomfort during exercise, it will help you in the long run.  Thus, it is a good idea sot exercise to manage your stress.

You can also use meditation to manage stress.   Meditation is a great way to step back from your life for a moment and relax. Often, people forget how to step back and forget about their problems.  Meditation is a way you can let go for a bit.

You can also alleviate stress by talking to someone.  If you feel as if your stress is overwhelming, talk to a friend or a family member.  If that does not help, try a counselor.  You might not feel comfortable at first, but remember, it is not something you have to do forever.  You simply need to do it so you can learn how to cope with your stress.

You can also try writing, reading, and going for a walk or a drive.  These will all help you step back for a moment and forget about your troubles.

Avoid Loud Environments and High Frequencies

The places you go can actually cause you tinnitus to act up.  Don’t go to bars and clubs that are loud.  Also, if you work in construction, put in some ear plugs to protect yourself from the noise.  This might be a minor inconvenience, but it is well worth it. You will keep your ringing ears from flaring up.

Whenever you have tinnitus, loud noises, as well as high frequency sounds, can actually make things worse.  Because of that, you need to adjust your schedule e in order to avoid these things.  Also, keep some earplugs handy just in case you cannot avoid a loud situation. You can slip in your earplugs and protect your ears.

Sleep

When you are tired, you have the same problem you have when you are stressed.  Fatigue makes you more sensitive to noises, and that means you will suffer with the ringing ears symptoms of tinnitus.  It will be hard to keep your ringing ears under control or ignore them if you are fatigued.  You will be on high alert, and that means your symptoms will seem worse than ever.

The question is, though, how can you fix the problem?  How can you possibly get some sleep whenever you constantly hear the ringing in the ears and sounds of tinnitus?

In order to get sleep, you need to use white noise or a masking device whenever you lay down at night.  The worst thing someone can do when trying to sleep with tinnitus is making the room completely quiet.  Whenever the room is quiet, your tinnitus will act up and your ringing in the ears will increase. Thus, you want to use a masker or white noise device so you can replace the sounds of tinnitus with something else.  This all help you get some sleep.

You will find your tinnitus is much easier to handle after a good night’s sleep.  You will be able to deal with the sounds much better and you will not have the same reaction you would have if you were tired.

Avoid Caffeine and Nicotine

If you avoid caffeine and nicotine, it will be much easier for you to sleep, and you will also get relief from your symptoms.  Caffeine and nicotine both constrict blood flow and they will keep you up at night.

Constricted blood flow can make the symptoms of ringing ears worse.  Thus, you want to avoid these things so you can keep your symptoms under control.

With all of the lifestyle changes you can make, you can make stopping tinnitus much more comfortable on your own.  While these are not cures they are ways to manage your tinnitus and feel better.  You can keep your tinnitus from flaring up by watching what you do and where you go.  This will help you a great deal.
